Handicap Accessible In the Spring of 2006, Fort Point native Joe Kennard auditioned and was invited to New York to compete as a contestant in Design Star, a nationally televised reality show. When filming ended in May, Joe returned to Boston under non-disclosure with HGTV and has remained silent ever since. According to the Design Star website, ten designers have a shot at proving their mettle on the way to becoming "Design Star". No one knows what the heck Joe actually designed, or how things went for him. It's a complete mystery, but what we do know is that he is a talented contender. Click here and see Joe's handiwork, or here to read a Boston Globe article. Come and join us (with Joe!) to cheer him on in his debut on Design Star! Don't forget the roses and rotten tomatoes. |

SPECIAL
EVENT Fort Point Stage presents
the SHREK
(2001) Shrek author William Steig's daughter Maggie and grandaughter Lily (both longtime friends of the Fort Point neighborhood) will join us for a Q & A after the screening. William Steig, known as the "dean of New Yorker magazine cartoonists", was an artist, illustrator and author of childrens books. Steig earned numerous awards for his work, including the Caldecott Medal. Shrek (2001) 90 minutes In a faraway land called Duloc, a heartless ruler, the midget Lord Farquaad (voiced by John Lithgow) has banished all the fairy tales from the land so it can be as boring as he is. But there are three characters who will stand is his way. The first is a green, smelly ogre with a heart of gold named Shrek (Mike Myers), his faithful steed, a Donkey (Eddie Murphy), who will do anything but shut up, and the beautiful, but tough Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) whom Lord Farquaad wishes to make his wife so he can become king of Duloc. What's to do in a screwy fairy tale like this? [imdb] BECAUSE OF THE COLD WEATHER, "SHREK" WILL BE PRESENTED INDOORS AT MIDWAY STUDIOS THEATER. |
